Dr Grace McGuinness grew up in Sydney but spent much of her childhood on the Central Coast. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in Tasmania in 2018 and has worked at the Royal Hobart Hospital, John Hunter Hospital, South East Regional Hospital and the Sydney Children’s Hospital, gaining experience in adult and children’s medicine before commencing General Practice training. Grace moved to the Coast with her partner and their 2 young kids and is glad to be back surfing and enjoying the lovely bush walks on offer. She is interested in all aspects of health and likes to think she is friendly and holistic in her approach.
The Surgery Kincumber is an accredited teaching practice for training doctors to obtain Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Currently Dr Michael Stone and Dr Jay Chelladurai are accredited registrar training supervisors. The Surgery Kincumber is allowed to have a maximum of 2 FTE registrars at any one time. Over the years, there have been a number of doctors who have undergone training from us who are currently practicing in the Central Coast.
These are doctors who have completed their Medical Graduate training completely and then have further worked in hospital settings. Sometimes they may have worked in other practices too. They have to undergo further training to orient them to be a fully dynamic general practitioners by obtaining a postgraduate degree. The registrar training is for 2 years and split into 4 terms. Through the course of the training, they registrars have to complete the Fellowship exams to then become Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, which is a post graduate degree.
